Protest Over ‘TUTAP’ Lighting Movement Began In Kabul

protest in KabulMEP: A massive civil protest began across the capital Kabul after the government and the Lighting Movement or (Junbesh-e-Roshnaye) did not set back of their positions on TUTAP project.

The demonstration started from 10 different parts of the city an hour ago.

Therefore, a large number of citizens from the beginning of the morning today (May 16) from specified locations, began their rally trying to decide on the route of electricity transmission from Central Asia through Afghanistan.

The protesters with chants of “civil rights are equal,” the slogan of freedom, justice, justice” continue to march.

The protesters that carrying ‘bulb and lamp’ as symbols for lighting, calling on government to change the route of TUTAP power transmission from Bamyan and Maidan Wardak provinces.

May 16, 2016 had been planned from a week ago on launching demonstrations on route of electricity transmission through Salang.

The demonstration comes despite President Ashraf Ghani, on Sunday suspended work on the 500 Kilovolt electricity project from Turkmenistan and assigned a 12-member commission to assess the situation.
