Former Afghan National Football Player Banned from Football-related Activities for Life

The international football federation (FIFA) has banned for life a captain and former Afghan national football player due to match manipulation/fixing.

According to Middle East Press, Salim Israfeel Kohistani handed life bans by FIFA Disciplinary Committee last night.

FIFA has reported that Salim Kohistani, along with seven other players from different countries, have been banned from football for life for match manipulation.

Salim Kohistani, lived in Europe, was a member of national team as well as the former captain at the time of coaching Yusuf Kargar, the current acting head of the Afghan Football Federation.

Jalaluddin Shariatyar, a former national team player in 2018, discovered this match manipulation and documentarily raised allegations on match results-fixing by Chief Youssef Kargar, Islam Amiri and several other players.

Fixing/ manipulation on the results of the national football team belong to 2008 tournament, which since this period FIFA has assessed the case.
