Eighteen Dead In Iraq Bomb Attack Near Karbala
MEP: A bomb blast has ripped through a neighbourhood in Iraq’s Karbala province killing at least 18 people in the town of Ain al-Tamer, local officials say.
The Euphrates Operations Command said in a statement released on Monday that the incident took place last night, when five terrorists clad in explosives-laden vests attacked a wedding ceremony.
“They were carrying Kalashnikovs and hand grenades. One of them blew himself up and the others were killed by the security forces,” head of the central Euphrates operations command, Qais Khalaf, said.
Iraqi security forces managed to gun down the four remaining attackers before they could inflict more casualties.
The Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.
