Egypt Under Fire For Relinquishing Two Islands For Saudi Arabia
KABUL: (MEP) Egyptian Foreign Minister in the wake of popular protests against the Egyptian delegation to Saudi Arabia announced two major islands, the islands had originally belonged to Saudi Arabia.
Sameh Hassan Shoukry, after seeing anger and protests, particularly on social networks in order to transfer the two islands, “Tiran” and “Sanafir” to Saudi Arabia, said the two islands originally belonged to Saudi Arabia and Egypt following an agreement to protect the islands against Israel in 1950 had grabbed it of Saudi Arabia.
This comes as Hamaden Sabahi, former presidential candidate of Egypt condemned Sisi in allocating the strategic islands.
However, the Israeli prime minister announced Sunday night that peace with Egypt ‘today’ is stronger than ever.
