Bloody Night In Turkey: 30 Dead, 100 Wounded In Wedding Blast

Turkish blastMEP: At least 30 people have been killed and 100 others wounded in a blast at an outdoor wedding party in the south Turkish city of Gaziantep, the authorities say.

Gaziantep Governor Ali Yerlikaya said, the “terror attack” took place in the Sahinbey district’s Akdere neighborhood late on Saturday. Earlier, the governor’s office put the death toll at around 22.

“A suicide bomber blew himself up” in a neighborhood where a massive outdoor wedding was taking place, according to reports on social media.

The ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and dead and wounded people were taken to hospitals.

Gaziantep, near the Syrian border, is known to have several Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group cells.

“We wish God’s mercy for those who have lost their lives in this cruel attack, and for the injured, a quick recovery,” said a statement released by provincial governor’s office, confirming the incident’s death toll.

“We strongly condemn this cruel terror attack and those carrying it out,” it added.

While there was no immediate claim of responsibility, a parliamentary deputy from the ruling AK Party, Samil Tayyar, said that ISIL terrorists were believed to be behind the blast.
