Attack On Mir-Wali Khan Home Ended With Seven Killed

MEP: Afghan Security forces this morning managed to assassinate both armed attackers on the house of Mir Wali Khan, Helmand’s representative in the House of Representatives.

The coordinated armed attack on the home of Mir Wali Khan in the area of Khushal Khan of Kabul, at around 6:30 pm yesterday evening after a suicide attack in front of the entrance gate started two other attackers clashed with the guards of Mir Wali Khan.

Security forces successfully killed the two assailants this morning.

Eight people, including two grandchildren of Mir Wali Khan, two other members of his family, two bodyguards and Hafizullah Barakzai, son of Obaidullah Barakzai were killed and eight others, including Mir Wali Khan wounded in the attack.

Mir Wali Khan were present during the attack at his home and has been transferred to a safe area, according to reports.

The report comes as no security officials responded to their mobile phones regarding the attack.

The armed Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, wrote in his Twitter account that the attack took place when a number of security officials had a meeting at the home of Mir Wali Khan.

The security officials did not however comment on the report so far.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the President of the country strongly condemned the attack, calling it “an unforgivable act” emphasizing that targeting of residential homes where family membersof national and political characters live in, cannot be justified in any religion.
