KABUL: (Middle East Press) Afghan National Security Forces launched fresh military operations across the country in which at least 83 Taliban militants were killed and 53 others wounded in the past 24 hours, Ministry of Defense announced on Monday.

A statement issued by the ministry states that the operations were conducted in the provinces of Kabul, Paktika, Kandahar, Logar, Farah, Herat and Helmand.

The statement added that at least eight Afghan soldiers were also killed in landmine blast and militants fire.

Afghan security forces have also destroyed eight militants’ hideouts and a large number of weapons and ammunition were seized during the operations, the statement further added.
