Air corridor to Afghanistan and India opened

The first air corridor between Afghanistan and India for better and easier transfer of commercial properties was officially inaugurated by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

The atrium was opened today (June 19) in Hamid Karzai International Airport and the first export cargo of Afghanistan from the path were transferred to Delhi.

President Ghani before the opening of the atrium stated that the temporary solution did not meet the fundamental problems of Afghanistan and therefore practically corridor between India and Afghanistan began.

He said: “Our goal is that Afghanistan becomes an exporting country and as long as this does not happen, poverty and instability would not be destroyed.”

The President pointed out on the various activities of Afghanistan’s neighbors and said “they have a fully right to choose peace and ceasefire or even death, but anyone who comes here for hostile, would encounters with death.”

Mr Ghani, however, did not name the countries, but specific reference went to Pakistan that has carried out acts of sabotage and terrorism in Afghanistan many times and was a safe haven for Taliban leaders.
