Afghan’s Gov Support for Saudi Arabia over Yemen “Irresponsible Act”: Spanta

KABUL: (Middle East Press) Former National Security Advisor Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta has strongly condemned the National Unity Government (NUG’s) support for Saudi Arabia’s aggression on Yemen, calling it “irresponsible and dangerous decision.”

Spanta said “The Yemen crisis is a fight between the regional powers and it’s not in our interest to interfere in these matters.”

He asked the NUG leaders to resolve the cabinet and other domestic issues instead of interfering into a “war between brother countries.”

Criticizing the government for what he believes “hasty and irresponsible decision,” Spanta warned of upsetting consequences of supporting the “war between regional powers.”

“We must preserve our neutrality in the fight between Iran and Saudi Arabia in Yemen,” Spanta stressed.

Spanta demanded the government to continue to its friendly relations with Iran and other regional countries.

His remarks came after the government issued a statement showing support for Saudi Arabia’s involvement in Yemen disasters, something that has followed serious reactions from the Parliament and civil society groups.
