Afghan-Pak Intelligence Hold Talks In Peshawar

KABUL: (MEP) intelligence officials of Afghanistan and Pakistan met in Peshawar on Saturday in the meeting they agreed to enhance coordination and security measures on both sides of the border.

The meeting is expected to be held for four days between officials of the National Directorate of Security Afghanistan and Pakistan in Islamabad.

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday issued a statement, eight members delegation of the Afghan National Army, headed by Force Commander Lieutenant General Mohammad Sharif Yaftali, visited the Force Headquarters Peshawar and called on Force Commander Lieutenant General Hidayatur Rehman. 

The visit was a follow up of Army Chief General Raheel Sharif’s last visit to Afghanistan, during which it was decided that corps commanders from both sides would hold meetings for better border management.

The representatives discussed issues pertaining to mutual interest and security arrangements at the Pak-Afghan border.

The statement said, both militaries have also established a hotline to exchange views on security matters in line with decisions taken during the army chief’s visit.

The United States has provided preliminary rituals for the talks and china has also conducted the necessary steps for the first round of the talks.  

According to Pakistani media, the representatives of the intelligence agencies of United States and China to also participate in the talks.

This comes as the representatives of Afghanistan, Pakistan, United States and China to negotiate with the Taliban in the quadrilateral talks are also consulting with each other.
