Afghan Intelligence Kills 16 Taliban Insurgents, Destroys 4 Vehicles

14AFGHAN-2-master675KABUL: (MEP) The Afghan intelligence operatives in the recent violence in Kunduz province, have killed at least sixteen Taliban insurgents including a suicide bomber and destroyed four vehicles belonging to the terror group.

Mahfozullah Akbari, spokesman for Kunduz police chief said the operation was launched on Wednesday evening in Gul-e-Tapa area of Qala Zaal district.

“Two ranger vehicles and two pickup trucks were destroyed along with its owners and ‘Khwaja Pak’ village has also been cleared of insurgents during the operation” he added.

According to Akbari, the operation included air and ground operations that was conducted jointly by Afghan security forces and ISAF under the name of ‘Shafaq’.

Kunduz Police spokesman said, during the operations eight Taliban insurgents were killed on board vehicles and a number of their facilities completely destroyed and five others were injured.

Separately, as a result of explosion with one of the suicide attackers, eight armed insurgents were killed and two others were injured, Akbari stressed.

Based on the source, the suicide attacker planned to detonate his explosives in Kunduz city.
