A statement by CEO’s office said the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Afghanistan signed the first agreement that would pave the way for bilateral cooperation between the two nations on production and export of Afghan Saffron.

The second agreement was signed by the Afghan Minister of Foreign Affairs Salahuddin Rabbani in which China pledged 500 Chinese Yuan for the technical cooperation between the two nations, the statement added.

Rabbani also signed the last agreement on Silk Route on bilateral cooperation between Kabul and Beijing.

Meanwhile, Hou Yanqi, a Chinese Foreign Ministry official, told reporters that Afghanistan has expressed its support for Beijing amid ongoing maritime tensions between China and regional and extra-regional countries over the South China Sea.

“Our Afghan counterparts expressed their gratitude for China’s long-term support over the years, and also said they support China’s position on the South China Sea issue,” Yanqi said Monday.

Yanqi further said the Afghan officials also supported China’s efforts to resolve the South China Sea issue through bilateral channels and through peaceful means such as negotiation and consultation.
