A U.S. warship collided with an oil tanker east of Singapore

The U.S. Navy confirmed a U.S. warship collided with an oil tanker at Yukosuka base in Japan and 10 crew have missed and 5 other wounded.

The U.S. Navy confirmed a U.S. warship collided with an oil tanker at Yukosuka base in Japan and 10 crew have missed and 5 other wounded.

“The John S. McCain warship collided with the Alnic MC oil tanker in east of Strait of Malacca and Singapore” the U.S Navy statement said

According to Associated Press this incident left 10 crew missing and 5 other wounded.

Four of the injured were evacuated by helicopter to a hospital in Singapore with non-life threatening injuries, while the fifth needed no further treatment, it said.

A search-and-rescue mission was under way involving Singaporean ships, helicopters and tug boats, as well as U.S. Navy aircraft.

Shipping data showed it last sent a transponder signal at 2258 GMT Sunday and had since come to a halt 10-20 km (6-12 miles) off the east coast of the Pengerang peninsula in Johor, southern Malaysia.

In recent weeks, this is the second incident of warships associated with the seventh fleet of the US Navy.
