7% industry upward; creation of five centers to prevent smuggling

At the Iftar meeting between industry owners and President Ghani, a 7% growth was announced in country’s industry, and President Ghani promised to establish five centers to prevent the smuggling of domestic products.

Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, hosted a number of industry owners in Salam Khana Palace for Iftar last night, Middle East Press reported.

In the meeting, Industry Minister Shirbaz Kaminzadah said that the industry has grown by 7 percent and Afghanistan’s exports have reached $ 1 billion in current year.

According to his information, there are 3,200 factories nationwide.

Meanwhile, President Ghani called on enterprisers and industry owners to consider the government as their partner.

“Five centers in different parts of the country are being set up to prevent foreign products entering the country as smuggling,” the president said.

Mr. Ghani urged traders and enterprisers to cooperate with the government in prevention of smuggling.

According to him, rent and lease of land have entered the new national procedure and all state-owned lands have been allocated to the Ministry of Urban Development.

This meeting is taking place when the small trades, and industries out of Government and Unions watch, are facing bankruptcy every day, and government support has always been limited to just a few companies and factories that are replete with such supports during years.
