25 Dead, 50 Injured In Baghdad Twin Bomb Blasts

MEP: At least 25 people were killed and 50 others wounded as twin blasts targeted a market in Iraq’s capital, according to local media.

One of the explosions was reportedly triggered by a suicide bomber, Reuters reported citing police.

The attacks took place early Saturday morning in al-Sinaq, a busy market selling car accessories, food and clothes as well as agricultural seeds and machinery.

The Daesh (ISIS) terror group has reportedly claimed responsibility for the blasts.

The second explosion seems to have gone off when an individual detonated an explosive vest when first responders had arrived to rescue the victims from the first explosion.

Iraq has been in war with Daesh (ISIS) since 2014. But acts of violence and terrorism had been a feature of daily life even before then.

Security forces have cordoned off the scene, and ambulances have rushed to transport the dead and injured, Alsumaria news reported.
