20 Dead as Bomb Blast Rocks Market in Northeast Nigeria

KABUL: (Middle East Press) At least twenty people have been killed and several others wounded after a bomb blast rocked a market in northeastern Borno State of Nigeria, security sources say.

The incident took place on Tuesday when a suspected militant detonated his explosives at the crowded Gamboru cattle market in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno leaving heavy casualties behind.

There were no immediate responsibility claim for the deadly blast; however, Nigerian authorities often blame such attacks on Takfiri Boko Haram terrorists, mostly active in the northeast of Africa’s most populous country.

Another blast also rocked the city on May 30, in which 26 people were killed and 28 others were injured following a bomb explosion inside a mosque.

Maiduguri, the biggest city in northeast Nigeria, is considered the birthplace of Boko Haram.
