106 Schoolgirls Poisoned In Western Farah

SchoolgirlsKABUL: (MEP) Authorities in western Farah province announced that some 106 schoolgirls have been poisoned after smelling toxic fumes on Saturday morning.

Abdul Jabbar Shayeq, the provincial health director said the incident occurred at Chahar Bagh School in the provincial capital city, the victims were Grade 5 and Grade 6 students.

“Around 106 girls were admitted to a local hospital and two of them are in critical condition” he added.

Investigations are underway to find out the cause of the poisoning.

“When we went to school, the gas poisoned students in a class and then it poisoned us and other girls,” Suraya, a student told ToloTV.

The incident comes as last year a large number of students have also been poisoned in western parts of the country due to numerous reasons.
