Russian Jets Deliver Humanitarian Aid To Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

1026937966KABUL: (MEP) The Syrian Air Force has successfully delivered 30 tons of humanitarian aid to the Islamic State’s stronghold of Deir ez-Zor, located in northeastern part of Syria, with the help from Russian Su-30 and Su-35 fighter jets, according to the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Sides in Syria.

“An airdrop of humanitarian cargo [from the] Red Cross” was organized on March 27, a spokesman for the center told the media.

The cargo took off from Khmeimim airbase via Syria’s Il-76 military transport aircraft and was escorted by Russian Su-30 and Su-35 fighter jets.

In late February, a UN airdrop failed to reach the targeted areas, and landed on ISIS-controlled territory.

Some 200,000 people living under the ISIS-imposed siege in Deir ez-Zor are experiencing severe water shortages and a total lack of electricity, according to the United Nations. Daesh is designated as a terrorist organization and outlawed in many countries, including the United States and Russia.
