Girl commits suicide in Badakhshan

A young girl in Kesham district of Badakhshan province has committed suicide after her family prevented her from participating in university entrance exam.

Zolfonun Hessam, head of women’s affairs in Badakhshan province told the Middle East Press, the 20-year-old girl hanged herself when her family did not allow her to apply for university entrance exam.

She said that in order to further research in this field, the father of the girl has been arrested by police.

The Monday incident comes as in recent days in the Province, the process of entrance exam was started.

Yesterday another young girl in the city of Sheberghan, the capital of Faryab province, also hanged herself and a seven year old girl after being raped by two youths in the city of Kunduz, was killed.
