Women Deprived Of Their Rights In Ghor Province

MEP: Ghor is among the provinces with the greatest violence against women and domestic violence and the outer field that led a number of women in the province to struggle with these challenges and urge the government to assist them in this regard.

Nigina Ghori, the provincial prosecutor told the Middle East Press, “Women mostly suffer of economic hardship, low literacy levels, lack of awareness of women’s rights and existence of irresponsible armed men in the city and these factors have led to increased violence against women and their rights be violated.

She said the current status of women in the province over the past is disturbing and the continuation of this process is dangerous.

Nigina also said that the main cause of increased violence against women is insecurity, low literacy rate of women and lack of awareness of their rights, patriarchy and the armed opposition as a significant activity which have led the advocacy for women’s rights and their work in the community where they witnessed ‘the stoning of girls and women’ and field trials became a serious challenge.

One of the most fundamental problems that women in this province are grappling with, is lack of access to education. A lot of girls due to far distance of schools, insecurity and traditions prevailing in the society are deprived of this blessing.

The prosecutor expressed hope for a solution to all the mentioned problems and urged the government to address the issue as soon as possible.

The report comes as in most districts of the province there is not right information about the status of women and in some districts as the government does not rule, the armed Taliban is active and settle disputes among people.
