UPDATED: Suicide Bomber Arrested In Kabul Before Targeting Interior Ministry
MEP: Afghan security forces have managed to foil a deadly suicide attack in capital Kabul by arresting a suicide bomber this morning.
The suicide bomber planned to carry out attack around 11:30 near the Ministry of Interior using a ‘Saracha’ type vehicle packed with explosives under the pretext of transferring a patient to the hospital, a statement by the Ministry said.
The statement added the terrorist has identified and arrested before reaching his target by the Ministry’s intelligence forces.
The Ministry of Interior says the suicide bomber is in police custody and more research is underway.
This comes as the US embassy in Kabul had warned in the early hours of today to prevent going to the Ministry of Interior.
