Five Senior Officials Of Interior Ministry Investigated Over Kabul Bombings

Kabul BlastMEP: At least five top Afghan security officials from the Ministry of Interior were investigated over twin deadly suicide attacks that targeted a convoy of the Afghan police cadets in Kabul city on Thursday.

The 32 deceased soldier had recently graduated from the Police Academy in Maidan Wardak.

The blast also injured over 80 others when two suicide bombers as one of them detonated his explosives near the convoy of the vehicles of Afghan soldiers and the second bomber rammed a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED) into the same convoy, minutes after the first blast.

Now according to the sources in the Ministry, Brigadier General Mohammad Hassan Alemi, commander of Wardak recruitment and training center, Brigadier General Ragbar, commander of the training center, Ahmaduddin Wahab, head of transportation at the center and General Zekria, operation commander at the training center are the officials under investigations.

Officials at the Ministry said that these people were presented for review after assessments of designated delegation for the attacks.

The report comes as earlier, the Interior Ministry has said the case was pursued in earnest and those responsible will be also interrogated.

House of Representatives and the Senate also urged the government to seriously address the issue and severely punish its perpetrators.

The armed Taliban group claimed responsibility for the attacks.
