According to school’s guards about six unidentified gunmen entered the Gulmiraan Shahed School at around 11:00 PM Sunday night, beat them severely and torched the school by spreading petrol fuel to the whole building.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Afzal Khan, head of the school told the Middle East News Agency “in addition to office products, about 50 percent of important documents have been burnt”.

He said the fire was extinguished by the people of the region.

On the other hand, Nahrin police chief Mohammad Hussein denied the claim by school’s head and guards, saying the fire was caused by a Gas Balloon explosion in the department.

He did not however provide further details regarding the exchange of fire between gunmen and local communities.

Gulmiraan Shahed School is about 80 years old which is located in the center of the district near police headquarters and the gunmen had burned its department in past years as well.
