UNAMA Investigates Civilian Casualties in Afghanistan’s Kunduz

MEP: The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) says investigations have begun on reports of air strikes on civilians in Kunduz province.

A statement by UNAMA’s press office said it has asked local, central and security authorities, to allow an independent investigation, neutral and firm for them.

UNAMA plans to review all aspects of the recent bombing in the city and provide its results to the people and government of Afghanistan, the statement added.

This comes as the national unity government had also declared a Fact-Finding Mission to travel to the city and investigate the incident while they have already begun their probe.

It is noteworthy that Thursday night last week, after the two US soldiers were killed and two others were wounded by the armed Taliban; the forces bombed site of the attack that as a result, 32 civilians, including women and children martyred and 19 others wounded.
