UAE Claims Five Diplomats Killed In Kandahar Blast

MEP: United Arabic Emirates government (UAE) announced Wednesday that five of its diplomats have been killed in Kandahar blast. The country also ordered all offices inside and outside the country to bring the country’s flag to half-mast for three days.

UAE government website quoted Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan President of the UAE government as saying that at last night’s explosion in Kandahar governor’s guest house, five UAE diplomats have lost their lives.

President Al Nahyan described the blast as “a tragic incident.”

It states that Mohammed Ali Zainal Albastaky, Abdullah Mohammed Essa Obaid Al-Kaabi, Hamad Rashid Saalim Ali al-Mazroui, Ahmad Abdul Rahman Ahmad Kuleb Al-Taniji and Abdul Hamid Sultan Abdullah Ibrahim al-Hamadi were the foreign victims of the explosion.

The diplomats were working in the development, welfare and education sections, according to UAE government.

It is worth mentioning that the diplomats with ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, had traveled to Kandahar city to open an orphanage building.

Eight people were killed and four others including the governor, deputy governor, chief of staff and ambassador to the UAE were wounded in the blast.
