Three Women Shot Dead In Herat

MEP: Afghan security forces have arrested eleven men accused of shooting down three women in Adraskan district of Herat.

Jilani Farhad, spokesman for the governor of Herat province told the Middle East Press, the eleven people were charged Sunday evening.

The suspects opened fire on three women that included two sisters and a daughter.

Farhad added that further investigations are underway.

He stated preliminary investigations show that violence and family problems are the main cause of the incident and no terrorist group is involved.

Violence against women in Afghanistan and particularly in Herat is a major social challenge that such violence in Herat has always been in the news and concerns of civil society.
