Taliban Takes Control Of Kunduz ‘Khanabad District’

Taliban captured Khanabad district of KunduzMEP: Local sources in Kunduz province announce of the fall of Khanabad district into the hands of armed Taliban.

A security source in the province, who spokes on condition of anonymity told the Middle East Press the district has been captured on Saturday morning at around 10:00am.

He said the security forces were surrounded by armed Taliban since the past few days and today their operations intensified resulted in the fall of the districts.

Programs to retake the district by security forces started, the source added.

He did not provide information regarding the losses arising from the incident.

Meanwhile, the armed Taliban also released a statement confirming the report and claiming they have fully captured the district of Khanabad.

“Security checkpoints have been seized by the Taliban during their offensive attacks and the casualties entered to the security forces,” the statement added.

This comes as a year ago the armed Taliban had succeeded to take full control of Kunduz city and kill thousands of security forces and civilians.
