Taliban Seizes 10 Villages And 5 Security Outposts In Faryab

MEP: In the past 24 hours, five security checkpoints and ten villages in parts of Faryab province, have reportedly fell into Taliban insurgents’ hands.

Sayyed Abdul Baaqi Hashimi, head of Faryab provincial council confirmed the issue to the Middle East News Agency said the Taliban insurgents started their deadly aggressive since a week ago in parts of the province and seized security posts.

Four security outposts were captured by insurgents in Pashtun-Kot district and ten villages in Qaisar district, Hashimi said, adding that one outpost seized in Kala Kalan area of Khwaja Sabzposh district.

The transportation of Faryab – Herat was also blocked to traffic in the region of Chaharshanbe and Ozbakya-Afghanya by the insurgents, according to the provincial council head.

Mr Hashemi expressed concern over the situation in the province saying “more than 50 other villages could also be fallen into Taliban’s hands if reinforcement does not reach on time.”

Meanwhile, Karim Youresh, spokesman for Faryab police confirms substantial clashes between the security forces and the Taliban insurgents but denies the collapse of villages and outposts.

“Right now we are moving to the area and heavy fighting continues in several parts of Faryab, the Taliban captured security checkpoints and villages, we deny the issue” Youresh said.
