Taliban Hostages, Killed Five Members Of The Group In Baghlan

MEP: Baghlan security officials say that five armed Taliban members have been killed by two police intelligence service members that were the hostages of the group.

Zabihullah Shojah, a spokesman for police in northern Baghlan province told the Middle East Press that two intelligence service police of Berka district were kidnapped by the armed Taliban on Monday, have killed them this morning (24 January) after taking up arms, and escaped.

The two men had fallen into the hands of the Taliban on the way of ishkamish – Berka district and the armed Taliban planned to hang them this morning, he said.

According to Shojah, the intelligence service members have managed to run from the ambush of the armed Taliban in the region of Tangi Murch, one of the important bases of the group and joined the police.

Berka district is of the restive parts of the province that is under Taliban control since many years and it’s said the people of Jundallah group affiliated with the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan also attend in the region.
