Tajikistan Reopens Consulate In Badakhshan

Afghan-Tajik officialsMEP: Officials in northeast Badakhshan province say that Tajikistan in coordination with the local government has reopened his country’s consulate activities in the province.

Ahmad Faisal Begzad, Governor of Badakhshan said the opening of the agency in the travel facilities between Afghanistan and Tajikistan, nutrient transport and treatment of patients are significant.

“The reopening of Tajik consulate provides more facilities to the residents of the province, in transport of patients to Tajikistan, transport of food and good relations between both countries”, he added.

Begzad further added that the consulate in creating good relations of social, commercial and cultural ties between the two countries is of great importance to enjoy as well as providing security.

Tajikistan had shut down its consulate last year due to wide scope of insecurity in the province.

However, Omid Nazarov the new consul of Tajik in a meeting with the governor of Badakhshan said that his country is prepared to activate the consulate of the country in Badakhshan after receiving assurance from the Afghan government.

Mr. Nazarov, on pure cultural and commercial relations between the two neighboring countries stressed, and said “the friendship between Afghanistan and Tajikistan, according to the common cultural and language dates back to the distant past and I promise that in the context of good relations between the two countries will try as well as providing the facilities for achieving visa for the people of the province”.
