UPDATED: At least five people have been killed and 13 others wounded in an explosion rocked Kabul city this afternoon, the security officials said.
The incident took place at around 1:53 pm in the vicinity of Qala-e-Fatullah area with the eyewitnesses saying the explosives were embedded in the tummy of sheep, the Ministry of Interior confirmed.
Najib Danish, spokesman for the ministry of interior said the target of suicide bomber was to spoil the ceremony of Shia Muslims who gather inside holy places to commemorate the 10th of Muharram (the death of Prophet Mohammad’s grandson, Imam Hussein RA).
The wounded in the explosion were taken to a state-owned hospital in the city, according to local media.
The eyewitnesses said there were others attackers as well who left the area after they could not reach the target. One of them was reportedly arrested.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility behind the attack.
