Seven Dead, Many Wounded as Heavy Blast hits MP’s House in Pakistan

explosion-in-PakistanKABUL: (Middle East Press) At least seven people were killed and nine others wounded in a powerful bomb explosion that hit the political office of a lawmaker from the ruling center-right and conservative Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) political party in Pakistan’s central province of Punjab, country’s security officials said.

The attack targeted the political office of Sardar Amjad Farooq Khosa in Taunsa city on Wednesday as around 40 people had gathered at the building to voice their complaints.

Eye-witnesses said two motorycycle-riding attackers drove into the residence of the PML-N leader and detonated their explosives. The witnesses added that a local PML-N leader was among those killed in the blast.

According to initial reports, the explosion caused a fire at the MNA’s residence who reportedly not at home at the time of the blast.

A large contingent of police and security personnel, including the Bomb Disposal Squad, reached the site.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
