Security Forces Thwart Deadly Bombing In Kunduz

MEP: Kunduz security officials say that security forces foiled a deadly explosion in the province by discovering a vehicle packed with explosives.

Mahfozullah Akbari, spokesman for the General Command police zone of 808 Spin Zar, said the Afghan security forces have identified a vehicle of armed opposition groups in third police district of Kunduz city on Saturday evening.

Akbari added the armed opposition groups wanted to target security forces or government installations in the city by blowing up the car bombs.

The vehicle was loaded with 220 kilograms of dangerous advanced explosives and the armed opposition even filled its seats and tires with explosive materials, he further added.

No arrests have been made so far in connection with the transfer of the car into the city.

The report comes as the anti-government militants frequently pack vehicles with explosives or roadside mines to target the security personnel as well as civilians.

At least 11 people have been killed and more than twenty wounded in a car bombing explosion in Lashkargah city of Helmand province on Saturday afternoon.
