KABUL: (MEP) Clashes broke out between security forces and ISIS militants in eastern Nangarhar province in which at least 15 ISIS militants were killed.
The gun battle erupted around 04:30 pm (local time) on Monday, according to a statement released by the police of Nangarhar.
The statement adds, insurgents had planned to attack a security post in Saluram Farm area of Bati Kot district.
Reinforcement troops were deployed to the site to assist those already in the area, the statement noted states, adding that they gave a befitting response to the militants and forced them to back up.
A number of insurgents were also wounded during the clashes.
There were no civilians casualties in the attack. However, one policeman has sustained light injuries whose health is reported to be stable.
