KABUL: (Middle East Press) A former Pashtany bank head Hayatullah Dayani and his six other employees have been jailed for 10 years over stealing of more than one billion Afghanis several years ago.

State Attorney General Office (AGO) announced Sunday that the Supreme Court of Afghanistan has also ordered Dayani and others to repay the stolen money.

Dayani presided the government-owned bank from 2006 to 2008.

He was originally sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2012 but he put the court’s ruling was unjust.

Meanwhile, Basir Azizi, the spokesman for AGO, also said that two Finance Ministry employees, provincial director of mines for Logar and a manager with Urban Development Ministry were also under scrutiny over allegations of corruption and embezzlement.
