Saudi FM: Turkey Better To Maintain Its Position Regarding Syria

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir has reacted, in his official Twitter page, to the Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım’s comment on Monday in which he talked about Turkey’s practical measures to normalize relations with Syria and Egypt.

According to Qatar’s Al Sharq, al-Jubeir has taken a stand against these comments in two separate tweets and emphasized the need for an unchangeable Turkish policy regarding Syria.

“We are concerned about Turkish official’s comments and will carefully monitor them,” he wrote.

“Turkey is now facing serious challenges such as secessionist movements and military coups and a change in policy toward Syria will not be possible.”

These remarks and stances from Turkish and Saudi officials signal an unprecedented tension in the two countries relations. This friction could result in more crises and widespread disagreements across the whole Middle East region.
