Saffron Cultivation To Develop In 14 Districts Of Kabul

Saffron CultivationMEP: Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock intends to develop the cultivation of saffron in 14 districts of Kabul with new projects.

The Ministry on Monday began the works of at least 12 agricultural projects worth of 24 million Afghanis to accommodate around the city.

Asadullah Zamir, the Minister of Agriculture stated at a meeting for this purpose that on the basis of these projects, plans to expand saffron cultivation in 14 districts of Kabul.

He added that the projects include animal clinics, research farm, construction and other agricultural intakes.

According to Zamir, about 13 thousand farmers, horticulturists and its citizens will also benefit of these projects.

“The Ministry is attempting to equip and fund the Kabul Current research farm fence as a benchmark so the farm be a center for research for the country’s students of agricultural universities”, the source further added.

Zamir said that after the implementation of these projects, three thousand acres of lands come under cultivation while wasting water and animal diseases will also be prevented.

Minister of Agriculture noted that all the programs of the Ministry are long-term and we need a serious cooperation of people for the implementation of the plans.
