Roads blockade in downtown Kabul

Roads and ways leading to the Kabul city center are blocked by the security forces and vehicles are not allowed to transport.

According to Middle East Press, the roads and routes to the downtown Kabul are blocked today (Wednesday, May 22) at the same time as the end of the five-year work period of the National Unity Government.

Kabul citizens say they have been forced to walk to their duty stations in the city center, all roads being blocked, and there are heavy traffic in the city.

Some of these citizens say some areas are blocked by containers and security forces are present at all crossings.

Although today it is equal to the end of the NUG work period, the Kabul residents say the government has blocked roads leading to the city center.

A number of government employees have also said that due to the blockage of the city center routes, they did not attend their duties and returned to their homes.

So far, the cause of this move is unclear, but in recent days, a number of presidential candidates have called for the end of NUG government and proposed a “caretaker” administration.

But the government reacted to this approach repeatedly and said that no one was allowed to interpret the constitution, and the Supreme Court allowed the President to continue until the new president is elected.
