Red Cross Donations Stopped In The North East Of The Country

MEP: Northeastern provinces in recent months have been witnessed by heavy clashes and unrest, many families displaced from their homes where they could not live peacefully.

During the time, Kunduz and Baghlan had been at the forefront of unrest and then Badakhshan and Takhar witnessed heavy fighting between security forces and armed Taliban.

While the displaced are living in bad condition and need help, aid organization of Red Cross has stopped its relief since five months in the northeast of the country.

World Red Cross organization alongside other aid organizations that supply most of the aid to needy families; but concerns have raised with the ban of the organization.

Abdul Rahim Qayomi head of Baghlan Red Crescent in an interview with the Middle East Press concerning of the stop in the International Red Cross organization, said that the situation in the provinces of northeastern is sensitive than in previous years and many families need help.

According to him, nearly one thousand families during the six months war, have been displaced in Baghlan province and are in need of humanitarian assistance.

However, a relatively humanitarian aid are being distributed to these families by the Red Crescent but are not sufficient, he added.

Meanwhile, human rights activists in the country’s northeast ask from the International Organization Red Cross to address the plight of war-affected families and start work as soon as possible.

“This is disaster, we cannot live this way…the organization must start its work as soon as possible,” Mohammed Atef Arefian, human rights activist in Baghlan said.

According to him, residents of the Northeast than in the years before, need help and a large number of them have lost their homes and properties due to war.

However, the cause behind the stopping of World Red Cross organizations in the Northeast is not so clear yet, but it is said that the recent insecurity caused the compact.
