QRCS Distributes $275,000 To Needy Afghan Families

KABUL: (MEP) Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) team has aided 1,550 families in Afghanistan affected by the earthquake and snow season, with a total budget of $275,000 (Qatari Riyals 1,000,810).

The aid covers at improving the suffering of the needy and displaced in the face of the cold winter. It involves distributing 1,500 wood heaters, 10,500 blankets, and 1,500 bags of winter clothes to 10,500 beneficiaries in the provinces of Badakhshan, Faryab, and Wardak.

Cold weather often becomes a source of suffering to poor people in Afghanistan.

However, this winter has relatively been warmer.

In addition to annual cold, people have also suffered stepped up insurgency, forcing hundreds to flee their homes.

Badakhshan was the center of the earthquake that hit Afghanistan late in October 2015, which left behind many casualties, tremendous damage, and deteriorated humanitarian conditions, especially in the hard-to-reach mountainous areas.

QRCS was the first international humanitarian organization to reach out to Badakhshan and northern provinces to provide relief assistance following the earthquake.
