Pakistan Never Existed At The Time Of Durand Line Imposition: Says Karzai

MEP: Former president Hamid Karzai said on Saturday that Afghanistan wants good neighbors, stressing that at the time of the imposition of the Durand imaginary line on Afghanistan, there was no country under the name of Pakistan.

Speaking at the opening of the new Afghanistan scientific and research center, Karzai added that Pakistan must know that “if Afghanistan demands for it’s right on Durand, does not mean enmity with them.”

Mr Karzai emphasized Afghanistan does not officially recognize the Durand imaginary line, noted “when the Durand Line was imposed on Afghanistan, Pakistan was a British colony and is also its successor and should know that the Durand Line was imposed on the people and the land of Afghanistan.”

Former president said that statements about the Durand Line does not mean Pakistan’s recognition. It’s a right that no one should be afraid to ask for it.

“Afghanistan has always urged for good neighbors and wants good relations with its neighbors,” Mr Karzai further added.

Meanwhile, Hamid Karzai referred to “water rights” of neighboring countries and said that “if Afghanistan was sanctified with water, would be pleased to give it for its neighbors, but first have to build dams and rivers for itself and give the lasting water for the neighbors.”

The statements came after the poor water management is one of the major problems and Afghanistan receives the lowest water interest in the country while the most of the water also reaches to the neighboring countries.
