imagesKABUL: (Middle East Press) Afghan security forces launched a military operation in northern Kunduz province in which at least 16 Taliban militants were killed and 13 others wounded, local officials said on Tuesday.

Mohammad Qasim Jangalbagh, Provincial Police Chief, said that the operation were conducted in Khan Abad district of Kunduz province and is still underway to clear all the insurgents.

Jangalbagh added that two of the security forces were also injured during the ongoing operation in the area.

According to Jangalbagh, the forces have also seized some weapons and ammunition during the operation and the forces have been moving forward.

However, the Taliban militants are yet to comment regarding the incident.
