Kabul Strongly Condemns Istanbul Bombings That Killed, Injured More 200

Turkey Airport BlastsMEP: President Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer on Tuesday condemned the terrorist attacks in Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport.

At least 36 people have been killed and 167 more injured in a gun and bomb attack late on Tuesday night after three terrorists blew themselves up as security forces were trying to block their progress into the airport.

“The Afghan people understand the pain and suffering of Turkish people more than any other country,” a statement by Presidential Palace said, adding: “this is because the Afghan people over the years have been victims of terrorist attacks.”

President Ghani, referred to terrorism, said “extremism is a major threat to the security of the region and the world,” emphasized the common struggle of all countries against this scourge.

Meanwhile, the President expressed his deep condolences to the heads of government of the Republic of Turkey, survivors of the victims and its people.

At the same time, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the chief executive of national unity government also condemned the suicide attacks in the strongest terms in Turkey.

A few hours after the attack, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim announced that early signs suggested that the Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group was behind the bombings.

“It showed once again that terrorism is a global threat and defeating it requires global cooperation. All early indications suggest that the IS was behind the atrocity, but the investigation is ongoing,” the Prime Minister said.
