Exorbitant Expense On Bridal Makeup In Herat
MEP: In a city where most people with no transportation, use urban vehicles due to empty pockets, but many of the girls on their wedding day, from clothes to makeup, spend catastrophic amount.
The Herat girls, see the wedding night as “unrepeatable day” and believe that all eyes are couture to the bride on the day. They expect to look completely flawless in order to attract all’s attention.
But this attention unfortunately reaches to a price of more than twenty thousand Afghanis (around $300) in one day which does not completely match with the economy and people’s income. The price is also higher than Herat’s citizens’ exertions.
Sakina (a pseudonym), a woman who had spent more than twenty thousand for her bridal makeup and garnishing on her wedding day to attract the attention of others.
In an interview with the Middle East Press, she added: “Although it cost very heavy for groom’s family, but it is every girl’s dream to become the bride.”
Lina, another girls who considers brides makeup as “great importance” of life and says to the Middle East Press in this regard: “Wedding celebration is a kind of party that we experienced it only once, so should we pay its cost in any conditions and even the poorest people have to remember the rivalry between the families, should make it.”
Meanwhile, a number of hairdressers in the city also confirmed that a large number of brides pay more than twenty thousand for their makeup on their wedding night.
Gul Nisa is a hairdresser that sometimes takes up to 30 thousand from a bridal makeup.
This application comes as the salary of a worker in a month does not exceed 10 thousand and more people in the city suffer from unemployment.
