Heavy Explosion and Clashes in Wazir Akbar Khan, Kabul

KABUL: (Middle East Press) Several major explosion sounds were heard from ‘Wazir Akbar Khan’ area of Kabul city around 11pm Wednesday night.

According to reports, the blasts were heard from the 13th and 14th road of ‘Wazir Akbar Khan’.

However, the security officials said a suicide bomber detonated his explosives at the entrance gate of the Heetal guest house, opening the way for three other attackers who were all heavily armed.

Security forces killed all three insurgents early Wednesday morning, the officials added.

Sediq Sediqqi, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry has said that no security forces were killed or injured in the attack adding that “all attackers have been killed in clash with security forces.”

The Kabul Police Chief, Abdul Rahman Rahimi has also confirmed that there were no security forces casualties in the attack and said that “in this attack we used new tactics to kill the insurgents.”

Investigations are however ongoing, Rahimi said.

The Heetal Guest House is home to mostly Australians.
