Gunmen Attack Indian Consulate In Mazar-e-Sharif

KABUL: (MEP) A group of gunmen have launched attack on the Indian consulate in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province on Sunday night.

The group of attackers first threw a hand grenade at the consulate building, and then started shooting.

According to officials, the attackers have taken up positions inside a residential home located in front of the Indian mission and are firing on the consulate.

The head of Balkh security department Abdul Razaq Qaderi said the gunmen were still firing on the consulate on Monday morning.

“There are between three and four gunmen in the house and they are still alive. The security forces have surrendering the gunmen and will soon launch a clearing operation,” he said.

One person has been reported injured so far in the attack.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
