Ghani Opens G7+ Meeting With Confirmation Of Corruption In Afghanistan

AB39BA0C-C11B-4D14-9ECF-64924CD61FFA_mw1024_s_nKABUL: (MEP) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani launched the fourth meeting of G7+ ministerial at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the confirmation of corruption in the country’s government offices.

Ghani following the opening speech of the meeting, stated that corruption in government departments is still existing.

“The only thing that the government has done so far is denouncing corruption and its existence, however no serious work has been done regarding the issue” he added.

The president noted that the phenomenon should come to an end, especially at the time when Afghanistan needs more international cooperation, corruption must be dismantled.

He said, Afghanistan has made enormous strides over the past 15 years with the help of the international community.

In another part of his speech, the President pointed to the terrorist attacks in Brussels which left over 290 victims behind and said that all countries need to stand together against terrorism.

The meeting will be an opportunity to review progress made since the previous Ministerial meeting held in Lome, Togo in 2014 and also agree on a strategic roadmap for the year 2016 -2017.

Meanwhile, Salahuddin Rabbani, Minister of Foreign Affairs also stated that the 20 countries considered G7+ face common challenges.
