Gen Dunford Reiterates U.S. Support For Afghan Forces

Taj Mohammad Jahid met US military chief of staffMEP: The Minister of Interior Taj Mohammad Jahid met with US army chief of staff met where the two discussed security issues in the country.

A statement by Interior Ministry said Monday that Gen. Joseph Dunford has once again pledged his country’s cooperation with Afghan security forces in the fight against terrorism.

During the meeting, General Dunford said that his country is committed to long-term partnership with Afghanistan.

He added that after President Barack Obama’s recent decision to expand US military cooperation with Afghan security forces in quelling the insurgency, the US forces have gained more opportunities to collaborate in ensuring sustainable security and stability.

Meanwhile, Taj Mohammad Jahid, appreciated and thanked from extensive support of US in strengthening and equipping Afghan security forces and called the role of this aid “positive” in the fight against terrorism.

The report comes as US military chief of staff in previous meetings with president Ashraf Ghani and chief executive Abdulah Abdullah, had declared his country’s commitment with regard to continued cooperation with Afghan security forces.
