Five Armed Taliban Killed In Own Mine Blast

Taliban killed in FaryabMEP: At least five armed Taliban were killed as a result of the brokerage bomb blast on their vehicle in Kohestan district of Faryab province.

Karim Youresh, a spokesman for Faryab police chief said the incident occurred last night when the Taliban were in retreat from the surrounding areas of the district.

According to him, the armed Taliban launched aggressive attacks on security checkpoints and popular uprisings in the village of Qazat last night. The security forces later pushed back their assault.

Following the counter-attack of security forces, three Taliban were killed and six others wounded and when their vehicle was on the way fleeing the area struck the brokerage mine and killed 5 of its people, Youresh added.

The source further added a popular uprising troop was killed and another wounded in the clashes.

The armed Taliban have not commented on the report so far.
