First Female Supreme Court Nominee Rejected by Afghan Parliament

anisa rasooliKABUL: (Middle East Press) The first and only female Supreme Court nominee Anisa Rassouli has been rejected by Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of Parliament) on Wednesday.

Mrs. Rasouli was introduced to Wolesi Jirga by President but she could not receive the vote of confidence on Wednesday’s session.

She required 94 votes to get approved as a senior judge in the Supreme Court but she only received 88 votes in her favor.

In the meantime, Khalilullah Sediq with achieving 100 has been approved as the governor of Central Bank by the Parliament and Sayed Yousuf Halim was introduced as a member of Supreme Court by receiving 103 votes.
